Explore this unique pathway to a career change!

For over 25 years, LEAP at Boston University has enabled non-traditional students and working professionals to obtain graduate degrees in engineering. As a LEAP student, you'll first be brought up to parity by taking a core set of undergraduate engineering courses. You'll then enter a regular Master's Degree program in one of eight engineering fields.

LEAP was first funded in 1980 by a grant from National Science Foundation as a means to attract more women into engineering. Since 1984, the program has admitted both men and women and is supported by Boston University.

Phase I of LEAP consists of a core set of about ten to twelve disclipline-related undergraduate courses. Credit is given for prior equivalent coursework. These courses do not lead to a BS degree, but will qualify you for entry into the graduate phase of LEAP.

Phase II consists of our regular Master's program in any of six engineering disciplines. Many LEAP students go on to doctoral studies at Boston University.
