We currently conduct research and maintain international reputation in the following five focus areas:

• Acoustics and vibrations
• Fluid mechanics (experimental, theoretical, CFD)
• Dynamics, control, and mechatronic systems
• MEMS and nano-mechanics
• Biomechanics

Departmental facilities include ten laboratories specializing in the above focus areas, and featuring state-of-the-art equipment. At the close of the 2005 fiscal year we have over 4.5 million dollars in grant funds awarded to support these labs and the students that are supported as Research Assistants.
