Senior Lecturer
Michele Martinez was born in London, England and raised in California’s San Joaquin Valley. She was a first generation college student, who has always been an avid reader. Michele has taught in the English departments of Trinity College (Hartford) and Harvard University and in the History and Literature program at Harvard. Her scholarship focuses on intersections between nineteenth-century poetry and visual culture as well as transnational feminism across time periods. Her current teaching interests include dystopian literature and film and family pictures and stories in a variety of media. She brings an ethics of care to the classroom so that students can flourish as they learn college writing. Michele is also a long-distance runner and loves ice/roller skating, exploring new beaches, and learning to make family recipes.
