Senior Lecturer

Heather Barrett (she/her) has taught in the CAS Writing Program since 2010. She served as CAS Writing Center Coordinator from 2017-2022, and as the program’s first Associate Director for the Writing Center from 2022-2024. In 2021, she was the recipient of the College of Arts & Sciences Award for Distinction in First Year Undergraduate Education, as well as the Mentor of the Year award from the Student Employment Office.

Dr. Barrett’s research and teaching interests include nineteenth-century American literature, Gothic fiction, queer theory, and gender and sexuality studies. Her work has been published in ESQ: A Journal of the American Renaissance and WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship.

Dr. Barrett currently teaches WR 120: Literary Gender & Sexuality and WR 151: Gothic Gender & Sexuality.
