Associate Director of English Language Learning (ELL)
Christina Michaud has been a full-time lecturer in the Writing Program since 2003. She teaches WR 111 and WR 112 for English language learner (ELL) students, WR 120 and WR 151 sections on social and racial justice, homelessness, and equity within/across Boston neighborhoods, as well as WR 212, Translingual Writing.
She has co-authored an ELL pronunciation textbook, a TESOL teacher-training book on lesson planning and backwards design, and numerous articles and presentations in the areas of TESOL, applied linguistics, composition and rhetoric, and critical language awareness (CLA).
Broadly, her research interests span reflective writing, antiracist and inclusive pedagogies, justice-oriented approaches to assessment and to ELL placement, gender studies, experiential learning, and student support/transition to college.
As a first-generation college student, she has worked closely with the Newbury Center and is always happy to advise first-gen students, international or multilingual learners, and faculty working with first-gen and/or multilingual students.
