Make Your Transition to College Life Easy

To get ready for Boston University orientation and course registration as a new student at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, it’s important to complete all of the items listed below. These steps will help ensure a smooth start to your academic journey, from confirming your enrollment and reviewing key resources to setting up your accounts and preparing for your first semester. Completing them now will make your transition to BU Wheelock seamless and help you feel confident and prepared as you begin this exciting new chapter.

Getting Started

1. Create a BU email.

2. Register for Orientation (Check out FYSOP too!)

3. Send Boston University any AP, IB, Dual Enrollment Credit

AP scores of 4 or 5 are necessary for BU credit. Credit for IB is awarded for higher level subjects only, with a grade of 5 or higher.

4. Students who submitted English-language proficiency test scores (such as TOEFL scores) to Admissions are required to take the Writing Placement Test before taking a CAS WR course. This applies to both international and domestic students.

You do not need to sign up in advance. All sessions are open to all students. You will need to create a BU email account before you take the test. We strongly encourage you to test as early as possible so that you have the most class registration options.

Test Availability: The online test will be available for students to take from midnight on the first date listed until 11:59 pm (ET) on the last date listed. 

5. Complete your Housing Interest Survey.
