Calling all Boston University master’s and professional degree students: Applications for this year’s Initiative on Cities Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM) Summer Fellowship are now open! Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM) is looking for one enthusiastic graduate student (in a Master’s, professional, or final-year BA/MA program) to spend the summer as a fellow at Boston City Hall, exploring civic innovation and creative hands-on development of practical solutions that positively impact the community.
This year, the IOC MONUM fellow will work with the City of Boston’s Analytics teams, on projects such as conducting action-oriented research, policy analysis, building data products and tools, or implementing creative, thoughtful new prototypes and experiments to benefit Boston’s residents.
Projects vary, and students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply: previous fellows had backgrounds in gastronomy, public health, statistical practice, business, city planning, and more!

Candlewick Press Marketing Internship

Candlewick Press offers internships in the fall, spring, and summer according to the needs of various departments. The desired time commitment averages fourteen hours per week up to twelve weeks. An independent publisher, they are a dynamic company that provides excellent opportunities to acquire firsthand knowledge of the publishing industry. They are looking for motivated, conscientious, and dedicated individuals with excellent organizational skills, as well as strong attention to detail, who are very eager to learn about the children’s publishing industry and be part of a high-energy, creative team.
Marketing Interns focus on one of two areas:
- School and Library Marketing – interns assist school and library marketing team to coordinate timely mailings, including in-house programs (like Teen Buzz) and ALA award submissions (like the Newbery award); maintain various spreadsheets, including award submissions and reviews; update our School and Library Marketing Instagram and twitter accounts; fulfill desk copy requests; assist in various preparation for conventions; attend weekly departmental meetings; research influential library outlets; and more.
- Publicity – interns assist with media outreach and promotional events on behalf of books and authors by drafting press materials; researching awards and event venues; coordinating trade mailings to major review outlets; fulfilling review copy requests; organizing and maintaining marketing materials; researching targeted publicity outlets; attending weekly departmental meetings; assisting in developing marketing materials for future lists, including seasonal e-blasts; assisting with press clip maintenance and other general marketing duties.
As internships are determined on a need basis, there is a chance a particular department may not host an intern every semester. Candlewick Press’ paid internship initiative offers an invaluable opportunity to develop professional skills, learn the ins and outs of the publishing world, and make important contacts within the industry. Internships run for approximately 12 weeks at a pay rate of $15 per hour. Internships can be used for college credit if approved by the interns’ educational institution. 4-H Summer Camp Counselor Internship

4-H summer camps provide an opportunity to experience new and exciting activities; including climbing wall, archery, canoeing, and many others offered in a safe, supervised environment where campers can explore new areas of interest with encouragement from trained counselors and staff.Counselors lead, instruct, and supervise campers in all areas of summer camp programming. Principal Duties:
• Assist in teaching all components of the summer camp program including canoeing, teams’ course, high ropes, climbing wall, recreation, arts and crafts, swimming, tubing, paintball, and archery (training provided).
• Lead campers in daily program classes and activities (wake-up, flagpole, meals, campfire, and wrap-up).
• Become actively involved in all program activities, leading and participating in evening recreational and instructional times as scheduled.
• Assist with routine cleanup.
• Train in a specialty area to assist as needed with rental group responsibilities.
• Set-up, maintain, and break down the site and program areas.
• Perform direct supervision of children while involved in classes and activities.
• Perform camp counselor duties including staying with and attending to campers over night while they are at camp.
• Perform duties that are required by Camp Leadership.
Qualifications:
• Must have a High School Degree.
• Working toward college degree.
• Experience working with youth preferred, but not required.
• Must have the patience, understanding, flexibility, and energy to work and live with campers and staff.
• Must demonstrate teaching skills and the ability to implement creative “hands-on” teaching methods.
• Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt, and work hard as part of a team pursuing one common goal and objective.
Salary: $475-$525 per week plus lodging and meals during camp
