Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are part-time positions available for BU Wheelock graduate students. Check with your advisor to make sure that your program allows for the time an assistantship requires. To be eligible, you must be admitted to or currently enrolled in a graduate program at Boston University.

BUILD (Boston University Initiative for Literacy Development) Graduate Assistant
BUILD works in collaboration with the Boston Public Schools providing reading tutors to children in selected public schools, after school programs, and community centers. BUILD is Boston University’s program responding to the federal America Reads Challenge.
Eligibility Requirements:
All applicants must:
1. Be eligible for a Federal Work Study award (after completing and submitting a 2026-27 FAFSA)
2. Be an entering or current Boston University graduate student in the Wheelock College of Education, School of Social Work, or similar program
3. Possess strong oral and written communication skills
4. Be committed to working with youth enrolled in a large public school district
Weekly Time Commitment: 15 hours per week during academic year plus occasional weekends.
Compensation: This is a paid position. Compensation includes a combination of weekly salary and scholarship award of up to 1/3 full-time tuition.

Graduate Admissions & Financial Aid Graduate Assistant
BU Wheelock is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the 2026–2027 academic year (September–May) to support the Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid Office. This front-facing role includes assisting with application processing, responding to emails and phone inquiries, giving building tours, supporting events, data entry, and other administrative tasks.
We are looking for a personable, organized candidate with strong communication skills and an interest in helping prospective students through the admissions process.
The position is 20 hours per week at $18.24/hour, with preferred availability during intersession periods.

Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement (SPACE) Graduate Assistant
BU Wheelock’s SPACE Office is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support community engagement, communications, and daily operations. Responsibilities include managing the office inbox, coordinating meetings and partner communications, assisting with events and special initiatives, editing newsletters and external communications, and helping oversee programs such as the Boston Public Schools Research Internship Program and the Boston Youth Research Advisory Council.
The role also supports marketing and logistics for the Global Language & Culture January program in Vichy, France, along with other partnership and community-based initiatives.
We are looking for an organized, proactive candidate with strong communication skills and an interest in community partnerships, program coordination, and education-focused initiatives.
