The Internship Phase
Boston University has cancelled all on-campus programming for Summer 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The hands-on internship experience, in-person social activities, and interactive professional development workshops are integral parts of our program that are not feasible in a remote format. For this reason, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the Summer Study Internship Program for this year. Please know that we look forward to offering SSIP next year and that we are committed to supporting your academic and career aspirations.
(July 6–August 14, 2020)
For the final six weeks of the Summer Study Internship Program, students will work in professional internships with Boston-based businesses and organizations. Generally, your internship is unpaid. You’ll work in your internship full-time, five days a week, for a minimum of 35 hours per week.
During your internship, you’ll have support from the program internship team and faculty. As part of your Internship Course, you will also attend workshops covering topics such as interviewing, self-assessment, and networking.
At the start of your internship, you’ll outline your goals, your objectives, and the projects on which you will be working. During the Internship Phase, you’ll consult with the internship team and with your BU faculty advisor for the Internship Course to review your progress toward reaching those goals.
Please note: Program participants must complete six weeks of internship. If your fall classes at your home institution begin before August 14, you will not be able to participate in our program this year.
