Are you looking for funding to support health services research? The Donaghue Foundation provides grants to help organizations improve the value of their health care services. The foundation focuses chiefly on reducing (a) high and rising healthcare costs, (b) unwarranted variation and lack of transparency in quality, prices, and outcomes, and (c) racial and ethnic disparities in access, prices, and outcomes. Grant programs include:

    • Greater Value Portfolio Research Grant Awards: $400,000 in direct costs over two years for research that will advance promising approaches to achieving a higher-value healthcare system.
    • Another Look: Approximately $150,000 in direct costs over two years for research that will improve health and quality and equity of care for long term residents in nursing homes, assisted living, and other congregate care facilities.
    • R3: $80,000 in direct costs to help researchers prepare their health interventions for adoption and use in real-world settings.

Letters of inquiry are typically due late March or early April, so February is the ideal time to learn more about the foundation’s grant making processes and priorities.

Attend this virtual session to hear from the Donaghue Foundation’s Shamira Chappell about opportunities to support your health research, as well as Megan Cole Brahim, associate professor of health law, policy, and management at the BU School of Public Health, who will share her experiences working with the foundation.
