August 2023 Selected Grants
The National Institute on Aging awarded $3.9 million to Alzheimer’s research led by Julia TCW an assistant professor of pharmacology (MED).
Professor Kamal Sen (ENG) was awarded $2.9 million from the National Science Foundation for his research surrounding Engineering Brian Circuits for Complex Scene Analysis.
Over $800 thousand dollars was awarded to Professor Cathie Klapperich (ENG) from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center for her work on the clinical evaluation of a novel digital health intervention for nutritional anemias.
Junenette Peters, associate professor of environmental health (SPH) was awarded over $700 thousand dollars for her study of the relationship of metal exposures to health, mood, and cognitive functioning in military veterans by the Department of Defense.

February 2023 Selected Grants
CARB-X, a BU-based partnership that aims to solve antimicrobial resistance, receives over $37 million in new funding from The German Federal Ministry of Education.
Researchers at Sargent College secure over $3 million in funding for Parkinson’s Disease progression research from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
The National Institute of Allergy & Infection awards faculty at the School of Public Health $2.9 million for their research towards understanding and addressing geographic barriers to assessing TB services in a highburden urban setting.
January 2023 Selected Grants
NASA awards a research team at the College of Arts & Sciences nearly $1 million to study the resilience of coastal marshes to climate change.
Researchers at the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine studying pulmonary fibrosis awarded over $800,000 from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
The Center for Antiracist Research was awarded half of a million dollars from the Open Society Foundations for their Racial Narrative Tracker research.
December 2022 Selected Grants
The National Institute on Aging and the McKnight Brain Research Foundation award a research team at the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine $20 million to study why some centenarians never develop Alzheimer’s Disease.
CARB-X, a BU-based partnership that aims to solve antimicrobial resistance, receives up to $370 million in new funding from BARDA and charitable foundation Wellcome.
BU’s SHIELD DRIVE Science Center is selected by NASA for Phase 2 funding totaling $15 million to better understand the nature and structure of the heliosphere.
The NSF awards a half of a million dollars to a research team in the College of Arts & Sciences to study multinational corporations and carbon emissions.
