Najam Interviewed on the Changing Face of Geopolitics
Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, appeared on GNN‘s “Live with Dr. Shahid Masood” to discuss the changing face of geopolitics and great power rivalries.
Najam argued that those still thinking of the world as defined by Cold War dynamics are severely mistaken. This warped worldview leads to the wrong questions being asked and thus leads to wrong answers. Najam suggested that modern geopolitics is driven not as much by spheres of influence but by balance of power politics. He concludes by stating this implies that a larger number of major powers are more comfortable with shifting alliances rather than the emergence of permanent blocks.

Adil Najam is a global public policy expert who also served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. He is the Inaugural Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and was the former Vice-Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). His research focuses on issues of global public policy, especially those related to global climate change, South Asia, Muslim countries, environment and development, and human development.
