Storella Named to NRC-USA Board

Mark C. Storella, Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, has been appointed to the board of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) – USA.

NRC is a leading independent international organization that provides assistance to refugees, internally displaced, and conflict victims in over 30 countries around the world. NRC-USA supports the Norwegian Refugee Council’s work and helps advocate within the United States on behalf of humanitarian policies and activities.

Storella has worked on humanitarian issues throughout his career, serving as humanitarian counselor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Senior Coordinator for Refugees and Internally Displaced in Iraq, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration. At the Pardee School, he teaches courses on humanitarian action and other subjects.

On joining the NRC-USA Board, Storella said, “I have had the honor of working with NRC in addressing humanitarian crises around the world. NRC is the gold standard for humanitarian assistance and I am delighted to be joining the distinguished members of the NRC-USA board to help support the organization’s work on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable people.”

Storella was a United States Foreign Service Officer for over three decades serving as Ambassador to Zambia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration, and Dean of the Leadership and Management School of the Foreign Service Institute.
