Najam Interviewed on Super Tuesday Results

Adil Najam, Dean of the Pardee School of Global Studies, was interviewed on Urdu television news network Hum TV to comment on the results of the Super Tuesday Democratic Party primary results and its implications on the US Presidential election race. The interviews aired on the popular TV news show Barri Baat (March 4, 2020) and also focused on the international relations implications of the current US Presidential race.

Najam pointed out that the Super Tuesday (March 3) results were surprising in the extent of former Vice President Joe Biden’s numerous state victories but it is not yet conclusive. He said that the real implication is that “this is now a clear two candidate race for the Democrats.” He added that the results had also put before the Democrats “a very clear choice – one more radical candidate and on the sharp left (Berie Sanders) and the other more centrist (Joe Biden). ” He argued that at this point the only priority for the Democrats is to find a candidate who can “beat Trump” and the strategic choice is whether they think this will happen by becoming more centrist or leaning more left.

Adil Najam is the Inaugural Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and was the former Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Read more about him here.
