GDP Center Hosts Research on Tap Session
Faculty from the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University presented at an October 29, 2019 Research on Tap session hosted by Boston University Office of Research and the Global Development Policy (GDP) Center, an affiliated center of the Pardee School.
The Research on Tap session brought together scholars from across Boston University to discuss their research on the diverse components of human capital—health, education, productivity, empowerment—and the implications of their work for the design of policy solutions to global challenges including poverty, gender inequality, and sustainable economic growth.
Gloria Waters, Vice President and Associate Provost for Research, and Kevin Gallagher, GDP Center Director and Pardee School Professor of Global Development Policy, gave opening remarks to kick off the event.
Rachel Brule, Pardee School Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy, presented on “Culture, Capital, and the Political Economy Gender Gap: Evidence From Meghalaya’s Matrilineal Tribes.”
Mahesh Karra, Pardee School Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy, presented on “Combating Disease, Pursuing Cures.”
The GDP Center is a university-wide research center in partnership with the Office of the Vice President and Associate Provost for Research and the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. The GDP Center’s mission is to advance policy-oriented research for financial stability, human well-being, and environmental sustainability.
