Najam Speaks on Ecological Justice at BU STH Conference

Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, spoke at an April 5, 2019 symposium for Ecologically Informed Theological Education at the Boston University School of Theology.

Najam gave a talk entitled “Ecological (In)Justice,” that focused on the global aspects on ecological injustice, particularly in the Age of Adaptation, and highlighted that the cost of inaction and delay by the affluent is already being paid by the poorest, most vulnerable and least responsible (for causing climate change) communities of the world.

“A tragic failure of global environmental policy has been that it chose to ignore that climate change is not just a problem of carbon management, it is a question of global justice,” Najam said.

The conference featured panels and dialogues on a range of topics including local conditions and activism, visions and practices in education, and rituals of reconciliation and hope.
