Najam Appointed to Pakistan PM’s Council on Foreign Affairs

Adil Najam, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, has been appointed by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to a 19-member advisory council on foreign affairs chaired by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The council is comprised of former ambassadors, foreign secretaries, and academic experts. 

According to a statement by Qureshi in a December 29, 2018 article in Dawn, the council will use their diverse experience to inform Pakistan’s foreign policy especially on issues such as national resource constraints. “That is why we have included internationally recognized scholar Adil Najam in the council,” Qureshi said.

In addition to Najam, members of the council include former ambassadors Salman Basheer, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi and Muhammad Sadiq, Dr. Riffat Hussain, Dr. Huma Baqai, Dr. Hasan Askari Rizvi, Dr. Rabia Akhter and Qasim Niaz.

Adil Najam is the inaugural Dean of the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and was the former Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan. More about him, here.
