GDP Center Databases Featured in NY Times
Two databases developed by the Global Development Policy (GDP) Center, an affiliated center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, were prominently featured by the New York Times as part of an interactive story on China’s vision for a global network of trade, investment and infrastructure.
The article, entitled “China Rules: How China Became a Superpower,” was published by the New York Times on November 18, 2018.
Chinese policy banks provided $25.6 billion in financing to foreign governments in the energy sector in 2017, increasing the total amount of energy finance by China’s policy banks since 2000 to roughly $225.8 billion. The China Global Energy Finance database, produced by the GDP Center, tracks and displays this overseas development finance in the energy sector provided by China’s two global policy banks—the China Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of China.
The GDP Center is a university-wide research center in partnership with the Office of the Vice President and Associate Provost for Research and the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies. The GDP Center’s mission is to advance policy-oriented research for financial stability, human well-being, and environmental sustainability.
