Pardee School Graduate Students Attend Career Advance

Pardee School graduate students participate in team building exercises at the Career Advance.

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University is excited to welcome its newest MA candidates, who gathered for their graduate student career advance on September 16, 2018. The incoming MA students join the ranks of the Pardee School graduate program from diverse and exciting backgrounds and walks of life.

The graduate student advance was held  District Hall in Boston’s Seaport district, and included a a day full of team building and professional development.

The advance began with a welcome from Amb. Robert Loftis, Director of Graduate Studies at the Pardee School. Following the welcome from Amb. Loftis, students participated in networking and team building exercises with Questrom School of Business Senior Lecturer of Organizational Behavior Paul Hutchinson.

Following lunch and an opportunity to tour Boston’s Seaport District, Boston University Center for Career Development Executive Director Lou Gaglini and Assistant Director for Career Education Esther Leonard delivered a presentation on resources, networking and BU alumni.

Laura Wiggins, the Boston University student liaison to State Department, discussed internships with the State Department and how to prepare a resume for government jobs.

On September 7, 2018, Pardee School graduate students attended an orientation which provided them an opportunity to hear from academic advisors and current students.

Students were given information on a wide range of topics including how to build faculty relationships, networking opportunities and Pardee School events.

The orientation also provided the opportunity for incoming graduate students to learn about the various affiliated student organizations at the Pardee School including the Dean’s Ambassador program, the Pardee School Women’s Group, Pardee Periodical, Pardee Graduate Council, Pardee School Initiative on Forced Migration and Human Trafficking and Sustainability @BU.
