Miller Hosts Brookings-India Fellow Dhruva Jaishankar
Manjari Chatterjee Miller, Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, hosted Brookings-India Fellow Dhruva Jaishankar in her IR372 International Relations of South Asia course on February 16, 2017 for a discussion with Pardee School students.
The conversation included an overview of United States interests in South Asia and how they’ve changed, common misconceptions about South Asia, and areas where there is room for engagement.
Jaishankar manages Brookings India’s activities related to international affairs. In addition to Indian foreign policy, Jaishankar’s work encompasses Asia-Pacific security, U.S. foreign policy, international relations in theory and practice, and the impact of technology on security and politics.
Jaishankar also talked to students about what it’s like to work at a think tank and what kind of background think tanks look for when they hire. Students posed questions to Jaishankar on Kashmir, demonetization, India’s perception of China’s ‘one belt one road,’ and the recent executive order from President Donald Trump planning to curtail H1B visas.
