
Maryan Rizinski
Associate Professor of the Practice, Computer Science
Dr. Maryan Rizinski joined Boston University’s Metropolitan College as a full-time associate professor of the practice in computer science in 2025. He holds a PhD in computer science and MS and BS degrees in electrical engineering and information technologies. His interdisciplinary research, published in top-tier journals, bridges real-world applications with novel approaches in machine learning, natural language processing, and data analytics. He focuses on ethical, transparent, and cost-effective AI solutions in the financial industry and related domains, advancing decision-making, risk mitigation, and the interpretability of deep-learning models. His earlier work spans computer networking, with a focus on wireless communications and emerging Internet and IoT architectures.
Dr. Rizinski brings over fifteen years of industry experience leading software engineering teams and managing complex projects across domains such as automotive, smart buildings, and consumer goods. He has held leadership roles at Bosch Digital, part of the multinational engineering and technology company Bosch, headquartered in Germany. He has led globally distributed software development teams and delivered sophisticated, industry-focused solutions for top multinational corporations. In addition, he has advised venture capital firms and mentored technology startups on strategy, IT innovation, business models, risk mitigation, and project management.
In addition to his extensive industry career, Dr. Rizinski has been teaching computer science courses at BU MET as a part-time faculty member from 2013 until his full-time appointment in 2025. He has a strong record in online teaching, facilitation, and course development and is the recipient of BU MET’s 2023 Roger Deveau Memorial Part-Time Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.
