Speaker Announced for MET Commencement 2016
Ira D. Cohen (MET’07) will be the speaker at the 2016 Commencement ceremony for Boston University Metropolitan College. Mr. Cohen is a managing director and board member of Signal Hill Capital, the largest investment-banking firm in the U.S. that focuses on technology, media, and telecom for growth companies.
Respected as one of the foremost experts in merger and acquisitions issues surrounding IT firms, Mr. Cohen is the former managing partner, cofounder, and president of Updata Advisors, Inc., a leading IT boutique investment banking firm. In August 2010, he led the merger of Updata into Signal Hill.
Mr. Cohen, who is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), has served on the Board of Advisors of Boston University Metropolitan College since 2012 and is a current part-time faculty member in Administrative Sciences at MET. He has a bachelor’s in accounting from the City University of New York–Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York, and earned his master’s in Banking & Financial Services Management online from BU’s Metropolitan College.
