Israel Institute Teaching Fellow
In Fall 2021, David Lehrer, the Executive Director of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in Israel, joined the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies faculty as the Israel Institute Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow. Dr. Lehrer serves as the Director of the Center for Applied Environmental Diplomacy with the Arava Institute, advancing cross-border environmental agreements in the face of political conflict. This groundbreaking center combines regional environmental diplomatic activity, academic research, and the initiation and implementation of projects throughout the Middle East.
With a joint Master’s Degree in Management Science from Boston University and Ben Gurion University in Israel, Mr. Lehrer has worked as a business consultant for kibbutzim, or Israeli collective settlements, as well as small businesses. He has also worked for the Hevel Eilot Regional Council and the United Kibbutz Movement.
