Middle East Month at the Center

From a screening of “The Gatekeepers” (2012) to a lecture by Arab-Israeli author Sayed Kashua, we focused in October on the history and culture of the Middle East. Also on the program: a Middle East Feast organized by Professor Mira Angrist in conjunction with the new MENA program, and a lecture by Amichai Ayalon on Israeli security and democracy.

Alexandra Herzog joins the Elie Wiesel Center and CAS Core Curriculum

The latest addition to the BU Jewish studies faculty is Alexandra Herzog who will join us this fall as our first post-doctoral fellow in Jewish Studies and lecturer in the CAS Core Curriculum. Alexandra Tali Herzog holds a PhD in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University where she worked on the Yiddish writings of Isaac Bashevis Singer.
