
Steven Upchurch
Co-Managing Director, Gensler Gensler’s Client Relationships Management Committee
Steven Upchurch is Managing Director of Gensler’s Dallas office and serves on Gensler’s Client Relationships Management Committee, bringing more than 38 years of experience in management, marketing, and real estate development to the firm with a focus on mixed-use, entertainment, hospitality, and life sciences. He has also served as one of Gensler’s Firmwide Hospitality Practice Leaders since 2013.
Steven’s extensive list of clients includes Universal Studios, American Airlines, Waldorf-Astoria, Loews Hotels and Resorts, Alexandria Real Estate, Newcrest Image, The Beverly Hilton, Belmond Resorts, The Beverly Hills Hotel, The London Arts Club, and Emaar. He is currently working on the new 233-key, 29-story landmark Waldorf Astoria Hotel and the new 217-key, 14-story Miyako Hotel in Dallas and Universal Studios’ new theme park and hotel located in Frisco.
Steven serves on ULI’s DFW Hospitality and Entertainment Development Council. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Bryan’s House Dallas where he served as President between 2019-2021 and served on the Board of Directors for The Maple Counseling Center of Beverly Hills from 2008-2016. Steven is on the Advisory Council for Kind Traveler – the first global digital hotel booking platform benefiting the wellbeing of communities and serves on the Texas Trees Foundation Southwestern Medical District Best Practices Advisory Committee.
Steven contributes his expertise to all aspects of the development process – known primarily for his project management, financial, and marketing skills. He was Director of Architecture for ClubCorp International before managing his own PM firm between 2001-2006, where he implemented numerous hotel, resort, and hi-rise condominium projects in the United States, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
