Kate DeForest

Senior Director of School Development for the School of Hospitality Administration and College of General Studies

Kate DeForest has worked in the development field for nearly 30 years and currently serves as Senior Director of School Development for the School of Hospitality Administration and College of General Studies. In her role, Kate is responsible for all strategic fundraising efforts at SHA and works closely with Dean Arun Upneja on building relationships with SHA graduates across the country. She also manages a team of gift officers responsible for fundraising activities at the School of Social Work, School of Theology, Goldman School of Dental Medicine and Metropolitan College.

She has been with Boston University since 2011, previously serving as Director of Advancement at Boston University School of Medicine before moving over to the Charles River Campus in 2017. Before her tenure at BU, Kate worked in both education and healthcare fundraising at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Latin School Association, University at Buffalo, and SUNY Geneseo. She also serves as a Board of Directors member for the SUNY Geneseo Alumni Association.

Kate holds a bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY College at Geneseo and serves as a regional volunteer mentoring students and recent graduates.
