Continental Divide: Borderlands, Wildlife, People, and the Wall
- Starts: 12:00 am on Thursday, March 17, 2016
Through the photography in her new book, "Continental Divide: Wildlife, People, and the Border Wall," borderlands activist Krista Schlyer illustrates the ecological consequences of the US-Mexico border wall and its effect on the diverse wildlife present on these lands. Schlyer's expressive photos call for a commitment to environmental justice. The compelling visuals of young bison, cactus plants, and water sources draw attention to the wall’s division of the landscape and the protection deserved by the creatures found here. The month-long exhibit, including photos from Schlyer and other artists, calls viewers to consider the consequences of man-made structures disrupting natural environments. “Continental Divide” won a 2013 National Outdoor Book Award and the exhibit has travelled to locations all over the United States, including Washington, DC, New Mexico, and Colorado.
