The College has also embarked on a multi-year strategic expansion of research in six convergent areas: (1) Energy, Sustainability and Climate; (2) Intelligent, Autonomous and Secure Systems; (3) Photonics and Optical Systems; (4) Neuroengineering, Neuroinformatics, and Neuroscience; (5) Synthetic Biology, Tissue Engineering and Mechanobiology; and (6) Materials by Design. Woven throughout these themes is our emphasis on research and teaching that cuts across traditional disciplinary boundaries.
