Rebecca Khurshid Joins Systems Engineering to Advance the Relationship Between Humans and Robots
Khurshid heads the BU CAIR Laboratory and opens doors to SE graduate students this fall. Systems engineers further CAIR productivity by offering a strong mathematical background to model the complexities of systems consisting of human beings and robots. Duan Wins DARPA Young Faculty Award
Duan’s award will help fund his research into replicating cell-to-cell communication. He is one of the 35 YFA awardees this year and will receive close to $500,000 from DARPA over the next two years to pursue his project and he could receive an additional $500,000 based on the progress of the project. BU ECE Students receive Best Paper Award at the ASIA Conference on Computer and Communication Security 2018

Shrinking Down Soft Robots
A novel four-step process has been developed by researchers including Assistant Professor Tommaso Ranzani (ME) and Assistant Professor Sheila Russo (ME) to construct microfluidic origami for reconfigurable pneumatic/hydraulic (MORPH) systems. Their work, published in Advanced Materials, details the process and demonstrates its capabilities with the fabrication of a highly complex soft structure. More
