Career Development
Are you already thinking about the next stage of your career? Completing a doctoral degree will unlock many doors for you. The challenge, of course, is to identify which doors to open, and what path to follow to get you where you want to go. This Career Pathways section is designed to help you explore the many options available. Here, you’ll find information to help you explore your options, identify transferable skills to take with you into the job market, and create your own development plan so you can progress towards the career path that’s right for you.

Professional Memberships
Membership Fees
The Division encourages SE students to join professional organizations related to their research area (e.g., IEEE, INFORMS, ACM, ASME) and become engaged with the communities they represent. This also allows SE students to take advantage of benefits such as information and support for job searches, reduced fees for conferences, and access to events such as workshops and seminars offered by local chapters of such organizations. The Division will reimburse the annual student membership fee for one such professional organization (select one in consultation with the faculty advisor) after the student has at least one paper accepted at a conference sponsored by this organization and plan to attend it. In order to take advantage of this opportunity please contact Professor Hua Wang, providing evidence of the accepted conference paper along with an endorsement from the faculty advisor.
