Registering for Classes FAQ

Incoming students who are new to BU will be registered for classes with the assistance of their academic department or division and faculty advisor. Each department and division has slightly different procedures when registering students for their first semester. You should expect to hear from your department or division directly.

You should expect to hear directly from your academic department or division regarding your assigned faculty advisor. If you are interested in connecting with your advisor and you are unsure who you have been assigned, we encourage you to speak with your academic department or division.

The College of Engineering hosts an Incoming Graduate Student Orientation at the beginning of each academic semester. When the orientation date is finalized, you will receive an invitation to RSVP for your orientation. Incoming Graduate Student Orientation will also include a program-specific orientation. If you have any questions about orientation, please reach out to the Graduate Programs Office at enggrad@bu.edu.
