BU Email FAQ
How do I set up my BU email account?
When you accept the offer of admission, our office will request a BU computer account set up for you
I didn’t get the email to set up my BU Account/email?
It will take some time for our office to process everyone who is attending the College of Engineering in the Fall, and we ask that students allow us time to request accounts for all of you. If you have accepted our offer of admission and have not received a request to set up your email account by mid-June, please contact the Graduate Programs Office.
Unfortunately, once our office requests the initial account set up, we are unable to re-issue the email to set up the account. If you have received the email to set up the account and either deleted it accidentally or are having technical problems setting up the account, please contact IS&T.
How do I forward my BU email to my personal email?
Once your BU email account is set up and activated, you can easily forward your BU emails to your personal email address. IS&T provides instructions on how to activate email forwarding.
What is my BU ID and where can I find it?
The Boston University ID (also referred to as BU ID or UID) is an eight-digit number proceeded by the letter ‘U’. This number is an identification number for all University students and will be used for many purposes throughout your time at BU.Your admission letter will inform you of your BU ID number. Students can also find their BU ID on their online application page, by going to the personal tab and finding the “University ID” number. When you register for class and pick up your student ID card, the BU ID can be found on the front of the card, it is the number under the word “student.”
When can I use my student ID for access to FitRec or the Library system?
Once students have picked up their Student ID and officially been registered for classes, they will have access to FitRec, the Library system, and can request access to ENG buildings. Students will need to accept the FitRec terms and conditions prior to their membership being activated. Students can request access using the ZAIUS room access system to gain entry to various ENG buildings. Keep in mind, for certain labs and buildings, you will need to be approved by your department of faculty supervisor before ZAIUS allows you access.
