"Translational Pursuits in Point-of-Care Sensors: Immunoassays, Molecular Diagnostics, and Next-Generation Wearables and Implantables"
Abstract:
I will discuss our lab’s latest work in point-of-care, wearable, and implantable devices for diagnostics and therapeutics. I will first discuss the development of lab-on-a-chip devices for personal health in the U.S., and for diagnosing diseases for global health. This work takes place with partners in industry, public health, and local governments, to develop new rapid diagnostic tests for use from doctor’s offices in U.S. and Europe to sub-Saharan Africa. We have more recently developed work on wearable devices, to measure analytes in interstitial fluid as well as blood pressure monitoring. Finally, we have developed methods to process biomaterials to microscale resolution. I will present work on a multi-PI DARPA project on focused ultrasound with wearable and implantable sensors and actuators to control wound healing, as well as efforts to build micro-robots.
