Title: Exploring Energy Materials using Advanced Hard X-ray Scattering Techniques

Abstract: Transition metal oxides have been intensively investigated due to their potential energy applications. Researchers have been trying to find new insights into the activity and stability of transition metal oxides under oxygen evolution reactions. However, the understanding of their physical properties in model systems is yet incomplete due to experimental limitations, specifically hard X-ray-based scattering techniques. Here we introduce our experimental approach such as Coherent Bragg Rod Analysis (COBRA) and resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS), developed at Advanced Photon Source, United States and Pohang Light Source, Korea. Using advanced X-ray techniques, we systematically investigated intriguing properties of energy materials, e.g., ruthenate and iridate. Our studies also can offer a comprehensive understanding based on advanced hard x-ray scattering techniques. These tools are powerful and dedicated ways for unveiling detailed mechanisms. Furthermore, we will introduce in situ techniques combined with electric field that can create new phases and emergent physical properties.
