Title: Extreme Nanodevices with Force Engineering

Abstract: Engineering matter, with near-atomic control, is key to the development of next-generation devices for computing, sensing and information processing using the rapidly growing library of nanomaterials that offer new and improved functionalities. However, the conventional fabrication processes lack the necessary resolution, compatibility and integration capabilities for nanomaterials. We address these limits by developing new device engineering frameworks. Specifically, by utilizing bottom-up engineering of forces, we enable down to atomic-scale control of nanomaterials and their heterogeneous integration into functional structures. With these platforms, we engineer devices with unique designer functionalities for next-generation electronics, optoelectronics and quantum technologies. In this talk, particular examples of enhanced two-dimensional transistors and sensors, molecular devices for energy-efficient computing, and on-chip perovskite nanoscale light-emitting devices will be discussed.
