Student & Resident Health Requirements

This section of the website contains information students and residents need to comply with GSDM’s health requirements:

Other health requirements

TB and flu are not the only health requirements. All students and residents must check their Medical Immunization status on the Student Link (under the Personal tab and Compliance Status menu option) to ensure they are fully compliant with all health requirements throughout their tenure at BU.

These requirements are based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for all health care providers and Massachusetts regulations pertaining to dental health centers. GSDM is committed to preventing the transmission or acquisition of communicable diseases, to the extent feasible, and to minimizing the impact of any such exposure.

Sanctions for failing to comply

Student Health Services will notify GSDM if any student or resident has failed to comply with all health requirements. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, or your post-doctoral department Chair may impose the following sanctions (depending upon your program and level):

  • Revocation of access to Blackboard, SALUD, or network resources
  • Suspension of clinic or research privileges
  • Ineligibility to participate in APEX rotation, Externship, or other external clinical experiences

Sanctions will not be lifted until SHS confirms that you have met your health requirements.
