Here at a renowned urban research institution, you’ll learn from faculty whose outstanding credentials are matched by their passion for their profession. You’ll gain skill and confidence through unsurpassed experiential learning opportunities: our state-of-the-art Simulation Learning Center, hands-on clinical experiences starting in your first year, and our unique 10-week externships.

You can also participate in Boston University’s long tradition of service learning, bringing your knowledge and skills to underserved communities close to campus or in remote areas of the developing world. Working side by side with accomplished faculty members, you’ll participate in the discovery of new knowledge at GSDM. Whether it’s an exploration of innovative materials, molecular biology, stems cells, or public health issues, you’ll be helping to shape the future of dental medicine and education.

The rich diversity of our student population, the collaborative atmosphere of BU, and the close-knit community of GSDM make this an ideal environment for learning and sharing. All around you is the stimulating backdrop of Boston, a vibrant mix of historic, cultural, intellectual, and artistic activity and inspiration.

A place to launch or advance your career

The Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine offers a four-year Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program and a two-year Advanced Standing program for internationally trained dentists. We also offer advanced certificates and degrees in all recognized specialties. Today our School is on a trajectory of growth with a faculty of more than 325 educators, clinicians, and researchers. More than 700 students are currently enrolled in our pre-doctoral and post-doctoral programs.

For patients: excellent, affordable dental care

For patients, we offer a complete program of dental services with an emphasis on preventative and restorative dentistry. You’ll benefit from the latest research in dental techniques and equipment while receiving care in a comfortable, cheerful environment. We have the capacity for treating patients with disabilities.

Patients with basic dental needs such as prophylaxis (cleanings), direct restorations (filings), small-span bridges and single crowns, simple periodontal care (gums), and most full and partial dentures are seen in the Pre-Doctoral Patient Treatment Center, where dental students provide quality care at a minimal fee under the supervision of faculty dentists.

If you require more involved treatment, such as advanced restorative work, extensive periodontal treatment, orthodontics, root canal therapy, oral surgery, or complex crown and bridge work, you may be treated in one of our specialty areas. These specialty departments are staffed by graduate dentists, many of whom have years of experience and are continuing their studies. Dental care in the specialty areas is performed under the supervision of faculty dentists.

We also offer many dental specialty services at the Boston University Dental Health Center, a multidisciplinary group faculty practice.
