Health Insurance

Massachusetts State Law mandates that all full-time students participate in a health insurance plan. Students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) each academic year. The student account is automatically charged for the annual insurance premium in the fall term. Students with comparable health coverage may file a Medical Insurance Waiver via the MyBU Student Portal.  Waivers must be submitted each academic year.

Students graduating in August who wish to be enrolled from August 15—August 31 may email insmed@bu.edu to request additional coverage, to be charged at a daily rate. Contact insmed@bu.edu before August 1.

Third Party Sponsorship

If all or part of your tuition will be paid by a third party, you must provide a sponsorship or financial guarantee letter to Student Accounting Services (studenta@bu.edu) prior to your payment deadline.
