Fall Registration Guidelines
Registration Date: Friday, April 3, 2026
Please carefully review the advising instructions below.
Step One: Contact Your School/Department Representative
Before contacting your new school/department, you must declare your major with your CGS Academic Advisor. If you have not yet declared your major, please contact your CGS advisor directly for further guidance.
- If you are continuing to CDS, ENG, SHA, or Wheelock, you must meet with an academic advisor in the department of your declared major to receive course registration advice and have your Advising Hold lifted in MyBU Student.
- If you are continuing to CAS*, COM, Pardee, Questrom, or SAR,you will not have an Advising Hold placed on your student record. It is strongly recommended that you contact an advisor in your new school or department for guidance on class registration.
- *Note: Students continuing to CAS for Classical Studies, Holocaust, Genocide, & Human rights Studies, and American Studies will have Advising Holds and must meet with an academic advisor to register for classes.
See below for the advising contacts for your major. Advising appointments fill quickly, so please schedule an appointment with the advising contact sooner rather than later.
College of Arts and Sciences
If you have declared a major within CAS* (including majors within Pardee), you will not have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student.
*Note: Students continuing to CAS for Classical Studies, Holocaust, Genocide, & Human rights Studies, and American Studies will have advising holds and must meet with an academic advisor to register for classes.
- African American & Black Diaspora Studies: Contact Derek Briand to request an advising appointment.
- American Studies: Contact Mary Battenfeld, Director of Undergraduate Studies, to request an advising appointment.
Please note that students pursuing the American Studies major must meet with an advisor in order to have their advising hold lifted. - Anthropology: Contact Marcus Shaw to request an advising appointment. Please indicate whether you intend to pursue the Sociocultural, Biological, or Health and Medicine track.
- Archaeology: Contact Bob Murowchick, Director of Undergraduate Studies, to request an advising appointment.
- Architectural Studies: Contact Danny Abramson, Director of Architectural Studies, to request an advising appointment.

College of Communication (COM)
If you have declared a major within COM, you will not have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student.

COM Undergraduate Affairs Academic Advisors will be available to meet in-person or via Zoom, and you can make an advising appointment via MyBU Student. COM Undergraduate Affairs is located in the College of Communication, 640 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 123. You can reach the office by phone at 617-353-3471 Monday to Friday from 9 to 5. COM strongly encourages you to plan early and set an advising appointment as soon as possible to discuss your registration and other plans.
College of Engineering (ENG)
If you have declared a major within ENG, you will have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student. To have your hold removed, you must meet with an ENG Academic Advisor. Students should refer to the appropriate ENG Advisor based on the first letter of their last name and their intended major:

Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Services (SAR)
If you have declared a major within SAR, you will not have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student.
CGS students continuing to SAR may to refer to the SAR Pathways for guidance on fall course selection. Students are highly encouraged to make an appointment with Academic Advisor, Kelsey Block (kmblock@bu.edu).
Computing & Data Sciences (CDS)
If you have declared Data Science as your major, you will have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student. Students continuing from CGS to CDS must participate in an in-person orientation.
Date: Thursday, March 19, 2026
Time: 5PM – 6PM
Location: CCDS 1646 (16th floor)
Those who do not attend, arrive late, or leave early must schedule an individual appointment to satisfy this requirement through the CDS scheduling portal, which has limited availability — walk-in advising will not be appropriate.

Pardee School of Global Studies
If you have declared a major within Pardee, you will not have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student.
Majors at the Pardee School include: International Relations, Asian Studies, European Studies, Latin American Studies, and Middle East/North Africa Studies.
CGS students continuing to Pardee must attend the group advising session with Pardee advisors to discuss fall class registration.

Students are also encouraged to make an appointment with their Pardee School advisor. Pardee School students are assigned an academic advisor based on the first letter of their last name:

Questrom School of Business (QST)
If you are continuing to QST, you will not have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student. CGS-QST students will receive an email from Sally E. Ward with registration information in late March.
IMPORTANT: Please note that all CGS students continuing to Questrom are required to attend a mandatory information session. More information is available on Questrom’s website. There are no exceptions for this requirement and students who do not attend an information session will not be permitted to continue to Questrom.

School of Hospitality Administration (SHA)
If you have declared a major within SHA, you will have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student. CGS students continuing to SHA should contact Olivia Lizza to arrange an academic advising appointment.
Wheelock College of Education & Human Development (Wheelock)
If you have declared a major within BU Wheelock, you will have an Advising Hold placed onto your student record on MyBU Student. CGS students continuing to Wheelock should contact Dommie Bochman to arrange an academic advising appointment.
Step Two: Make an Academic Advising Appointment
If required, make an advising appointment with the contact at your continuing school or college. Information regarding appointment booking can be found under your declared school/college in Step One.
To prepare for your meeting:
- Review the school’s website.
- Print a copy of your unofficial transcript from MyBU Student.
- Review the Undergraduate Bulletin for your school.
Step Three: Register for Classes

Registration for rising juniors opens on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 6:20AM. Your registration start time is based on the last digit of your BUID number:
