Rosalie Cushman (CGS’72) of Encinitas, Calif., coauthored The Man Confused by God (Amazon Digital Services, 2009), a Holocaust memoir, with Bennet Mermel, a concentration camp survivor.

Erren Gottlieb (CGS’77, COM’79) of Mercer Island, Wash., is an executive producer and director of Biz Kid$, the Emmy-winning public television series that teaches kids about business and money. She was also an executive producer of the popular 1990s series Bill Nye the Science Guy, which won a host of Emmy awards. back to top

1980s

Christopher Koch (CGS’84, COM’87) of Los Angeles, Calif., is one of the directors of the ABC comedy Modern Family, which recently won the 2012 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series—Comedy or Musical. Chris has been with the show for three seasons. His other directing credits include the television shows Scrubs and My Name Is Earl and the films Snow Day and A Guy Thing. While at BU, Chris won the Redstone Award for Best Student Film.

Diana Carmenates (CGS’89, COM’91) of Alexandria, Va., is vice president of meetings and educational services at the International Dairy Foods Association in Washington, D.C.

Gary Partoyan (CGS’89, CAS’91) of Alexandria, Va., is the founder of Potomac Wealth Strategies, LLC, an investment advisory and planning firm. He previously spent eight years with Morgan Stanley and A.G. Edwards. He writes: “I really enjoy reconnecting with old friends on Facebook, although I was pretty good at keeping in touch with my BU friends even before it was invented. Greetings to my B3, Warren 7B, SAE and IFSC, and sailing friends!”

Mike Woolf (CGS’89, COM’91) of Austin, Tex., is director of Beef & Pie Productions, an award-winning production company that has done commercials for Southwest Airlines and webisodes for the U.S. Air Force. Beef & Pie Productions recently collaborated with the app company Bohemian Innovation to create a game that rewards players with a free viewing of its short documentary Life is Marbleous! Myra (Rivera) Williams (CGS’90, COM’92) of Watsonville, Calif., recently moved to California from Houston, Tex., after 10 years as an estate manager. “I now enjoy being a stay-at-home mom while working as a marketing consultant for my husband’s company, Pacific Coast Ag (while sneaking in hikes, mountain biking, and jogging on the beach),” she writes. Art Risavy (CGS’91, CAS’93) of Edwardsville, Ill., writes, “My company, Swing City Music, recently relocated to a new, 30,000-square-foot facility. Swing City sells all musical instruments, installs sound systems for churches and school gyms, and gives music lessons. John Apesos (CGS’00, CAS’03) of Jamaica Plain, Mass., recently launched MetFarm, a company aimed at tackling problems in the food system. John received the TEDx Amsterdam 2012 Ideas Worth Doing Award for developing MetFarm. He writes, “My career has taken many turns over the years, and I have managed to travel to 30-plus countries as an outdoor educator. I have worked in clean tech since earning an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management in 2009.”
