Late Start, Early Abroad

Parents of the future Class of 2017 who’d planned to turn that soon-to-be-empty bedroom into a comfortable study might have to wait a couple more months.
The College of General Studies is introducing a January freshman program, which will allow students to defer entry to Boston University in order to spend the summer of their first year studying in London.
Outgoing Dean Linda Wells says the College expects the program, which includes eight first-year courses in Boston and London, to begin in January 2014 with around 80 students. All students will start their sophomore year on the traditional fall schedule.—Andrew Thurston
