#My100Days: Build professional skills in a job or internship
Every year Boston-London Program students share their gap semester experiences us through the hashtag #My100Days. Over the years students have used the gap semester to sharpen their professional skills through jobs and internships before making the transition to the College of General Studies in the spring. Here are some of the experiences our students had while on the job.
Colter Schroer spent his gap semester interning in Seville.Emily Ongg got a job at Disneyland during her gap semester!Jennifer Ramirez spent her time working at an Italian restaurant and learning about the restaurant business while exploring historical sites in Philadelphia and Washington D.C.Katie Yao conducted research on age-related macular degeneration at Schepens Eye Research Institute during her gap semester.Guenevere Dunstan interned at Oscar de la Renta. This photo is of her at New York Fashion Week, greeting guests before the Oscar de la Renta show. She told BU Today, “I am so thankful that I had this time off from school to focus on my own personal interests.”Sydney Clark had a busy #My100Days! She interned at two film productions in Los Angeles– Avenida Productions, which crowdfunds independent filmmakers who are underrepresented in Hollywood, and Bad Hat Harry Productions. She also had a part-time job on the weekends and travelled and volunteered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in her spare time. She said, “It’s been cool seeing some of my favorite people on TV pass by my desk every now and then, and I’m excited to major in film.”Benjamin Levy was a fellow for the Clinton campaign at his local Democratic office in Camden County, New Jersey during his gap semester.Caitlin Burke focused on her passion for music during her internship at a music therapy center.Wendy Arroyo interned at a global firm during her gap semester.Catherine Monroy spent her gap semester interning for Senator Elizabeth Warren.Olivia Lewis worked as a medical assistant at a hematology and oncology clinic in San Antonio.
Ruofan Shi took a class in robotics at Tsinghua University and then interned at the University’s Center for Neural and Cognitive Computation Bruce Dennis worked at an ice cream store and a clothing company during the gap semester. A coworker asked if he’d be interested in representing Polaroid at Complex Con, and it opened up an opportunity for him to become a brand ambassador for Polaroid. Photo Credit-@polaroidoriginals
