What made you choose to attend the College of General Studies?

“I had no idea what I wanted to do coming out of high school and felt that CGS would guide me through the first two years of college. Ultimately, my professors helped me figure out what I wanted to do because they took the time to discuss potential career options with me.”

What is your favorite College of General Studies class and why?

“My freshman year rhetoric class was probably my best experience in CGS. I had Professor Cole, who made it more than just a class; we engaged in debates and wrote papers on really controversial topics. I also loved having the opportunity to write about topics I genuinely cared about and delving into the whole research process.”

What do you do and you’re not in the classroom?

“The spring before starting at Boston University I tried out for the Dance Team and made it. That summer I had the opportunity to practice with the team and get to know everyone before even coming to BU. As a member of the Dance Team, I get to perform at all of home basketball games as well as a lot of other BU events. And this April, we travel to Daytona Beach to perform in nationals which we came in second at last year.

I also write for The Daily Free Press, which is the student newspaper here on campus. I’m currently on the features section team which means I get to write about all the new and exciting things here in Boston!”

If you could give one tip to incoming freshmen, what would it be?

“Get involved right when you get on campus because doing that will help your freshman experience. Dance Team and The Daily Free Press allowed me to meet some amazing people and helped me come out of my shell.”
