Peter Busher Visits Argentina for Tenth International Mammalogical Congress

After teaching this summer in the CGS study abroad program in London, Peter Busher, professor of natural science and mathematics, returned briefly to North America and then headed to South America for a professional meeting.
The meeting was the Tenth International Mammalogical Congress (IMC 10) held in Mendoza, Argentina from August 9-14, 2009. Held every four years, the meeting brings together mammalogists from all over the world. The first was held in Moscow in 1974.
Peter has attended four of these meetings over the years and has organized two international beaver symposia at the meetings. In Mendoza, he developed and was a co-convener (with Goran Hartman from Sweden and Marta Lizarralde from Argentina) of a workshop on beaver ecology and management. The workshop addressed the problem of how to deal with the introduced beaver population in Tierra del Fuego (both in Argentina and Chile).
