History & Contribution of the Massachusetts Tribal Nations

In honor of the resilience of the American Indians from the genocidal lethality of
settler colonialism this November 2025 which is dedicated to the celebration of
National Native American Heritage Month, and in consultation with Dr. Stephanie
Edwards of Boston Theological Interreligious (BTI) Consortium, with CSTM, the
Theology Department (and possibly a 3 rd ) as co-hosts, Billy Critchely-Manor SJ
and Jojo Fung SJ (Cavalieri Professor) of CSTM plan to organize a conversation
with historian-artist Tom Green Spirit Tree (see his bionote below) of the Neponset
band of the Moswetusett Tribal Nations. This conversation will focus on the
history & contributions of the Massachusett Tribal Nations: Pre-Colonial Past to
the Present, with a subset on how the wisdom and local knowledges of his people
contribute Nation to Nation sovereignty and the negotiation of the environmental
crises of our times.
