Navigating Cyber Mission across Generations in the Digital Era is the theme of this fall’s gathering of the Eastern Fellowship of Missiologists, aka the Eastern Fellowship of Professors of Mission. Our guest speakers will be Andrew Flynn focusing on digital evangelism and mission, and Betsy Wagner focusing on the attendant generational shifts. We eagerly anticipate exploring this emerging frontier in mission. The gathering will be held Friday 3pm-Saturday 1pm, Nov. 7-8, at Graymoor, the retreat center of the Franciscian Friars and Sisters of the Atonement in Garrison, New York. Directions are available at the Graymoor website. Registration begins at 2pm on Friday. The Graymoor cost, including room and board, is $150, and the Eastern Fellowship fee is $25. Graymoor needs its fees a month before the conference. Hence checks for the total of $175 are due by Oct. 1, made out to Eastern Fellowship-ASM, and should be sent to treasurer Daryl Ireland at: 86 Wendell Ave, Quincy, MA 02170. Here are our speakers: Forging Evangelism and Mission in the Digital Era Andrew Flynn Based in the United Kingdom, Andrew Flynn is Head of Data and Insight at Christian Vision (CV), a global Christian ministry. He helps CV make sense of the digital landscape and the opportunities it provides for evangelism, a role he has held since 2014. Andrew began his career at CV in 1994 as a radio engineer helping pioneer Radio Christian Voice, the first non-governmental radio station in Zambia. After 16 years establishing and overseeing broadcast facilities around the world, the emergence of “new media” and the internet led to Andrew playing a formative role in developing strategies to use digital platforms to introduce people to Jesus. In his present role Andrew specialises in seeing that value is released from data to provide insights and inform decision-making. He is currently researching the concept of Digital Gospel Access and its effect on the measurement of evangelization. He is spending the fall semester at Gordon-Conwell Seminary. Andrew holds a BEng (Hons) in electronics and electrical engineering from Edinburgh University, an MSc in radio frequency and communication engineering from Bradford University, and an MBA from the University of Birmingham. Andrew is married to Tracey, an artist, and lives in Tamworth in central England. He enjoys good coffee and playing tennis.  Managing Generational Shifts in Mission in the Digital Era Betsy Nesbit Wagner Dr. Elisabeth (Betsy) Nesbit Wagner is director of member care and development for World Venture in Englewood, Colorado, which describes its mission as “engaging the world for gospel impact.” Betsy has spent over 15 years researching, consulting, speaking and writing on the topic of generational differences. She has worked with Fortune 500 businesses, non-profits, government and military organizations, and ministries on topics of generational differences, intrinsic motivations, identity, faith, career development, and authentic living. Betsy received a PhD in counselor education and supervision from the University of Arkansas, an MA in community counseling from Denver Seminary, and a BA in interpersonal communication from the University of Northern Iowa. She co-authored Effective Generational Ministry with Craig Blomberg, and Skills for Effective Counseling with Heather and Fred Gingrich titled. She was a professor of counseling for ten years and now maintains a practice as a licensed professional counselor and consultant in Denver. She and her husband David live in Parker, Colorado. www.DrElisabethWagner.com Attendees in 2024 commented that it would be helpful if there were more time for peer discussion. So this year we have tried to avoid overfilling the agenda and to provide more time for small group discussions. This is our third year at Graymoor, so most of you are familiar with the facility, which has shared bathrooms. A few housekeeping notes from Graymoor: “Towels, linens and one pillow per bed are provided. Bathrooms are centrally located on each bedroom floor. Bathrobes are recommended for privacy when walking from bedroom to shower. Please bring your own alarm clock and any extra pillows & toiletries you may need.”
