Join us for this exciting “Works In Progress” presentation by Professor Jonathan Calvillo. In this paper, Professor Calvillo argues that for Latino immigrants living in ethnic enclaves, diverging perceptions of the barrio along religious lines undergird divergent ethnic identity projects. Findings suggest that differences in social capital and social network composition between Catholics and Evangelicals shape local ethnic belonging in divergent ways.
