BU’s featured funds for #GivingTuesday 2022
Posted November 2022
Giving Tuesday is just around the corner, and with so many amazing funds across campus, it can be hard to decide where to support. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with giving opportunities, we’ve got you covered! This year’s highlighted funds are the perfect place to start, with a diverse selection of funds across Boston University.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)
UROP connects BU undergraduate students with funded, faculty-mentored research projects in academic areas across the University. From engineering to economics, these research opportunities give our students the chance to explore potential career paths, gain valuable experience in their field, and build their confidence while working with experienced faculty members. While UROP aims to provide financial support to every BU student, the program needs your help to keep up with the growing interest in undergraduate research. Each gift opens doors to new research opportunities for our undergraduate students.
General Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are key to a diverse, flourishing student body. The General Scholarship Fund ensures that students can attend an affordable BU and benefit from all of the University’s extraordinary resources regardless of their socioeconomic background. By contributing to the financial aid students receive, a gift to this fund helps the University provide need-based scholarships to as many students as possible.
Center for Antiracist Research’s Internship Fund
Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research is one of the most cutting-edge research organizations in the country focused on racial justice, advocacy, and policy innovation. The Center’s internship opportunities allow students to explore data-driven, educational ways to understand, explain, and solve the problems of racial inequity and injustice in a hands-on environment. These paid internships are pivotal to the Center’s work, allowing for more research, events, and progress each semester. They also give our students a head-start in policy and data-focused careers.
deneen zarada Community Service Fund
The daneen zarada Community Service Fund was established in 2019 and ensures students have access to the Community Service Center’s programs, regardless of their financial situation. As a student, deneen zarada (SAR’02) inspired those around her to get involved and make a difference through community service. The fund provides need-based scholarships that fund BU student participation in programs that build leadership skills while engaging in community service initiatives. The Alternative Service Breaks program, this fund’s primary focus, allows students to engage with and support communities in need across the country. Gifts to this fund will help service-minded students access the program and make a difference in communities across the US.
