Maria Gapotchenko has taught seminars on friendship; self and history in 20th century fiction (Russian, French, Japanese, Latin American); and 19th & 20th century Russian literature. As a speaker of several languages, she has recently developed a translation-based course for multilingual speakers, which seeks to maximize those learners’ cross-cultural and linguistic awareness.

Maria has translated scholarly works in literary criticism, sociology, music and theater arts, and Soviet archival studies. Her poetry has appeared in Boston University’s “Clarion.” Beyond the Writing Program, she has taught in the Metropolitan College and in the Prison Education Program.
