The Boston University School of Law Libraries are private research facilities that exist primarily to support the educational and research needs of the Boston University community. The BU School of Law Libraries are open to all Boston University students, faculty, staff, and alumni until 8pm. A card swipe entry system is in place from 8pm to 11pm for the law school community. Law alumni who need access after 8pm should contact the facilities manager at 617/358-2300 to obtain a card.
Researchers who are not part of the BU community and who have requested prior permission may access the Law Library during the following hours: Monday through Thursday, 9am-8pm; Friday and Saturday, 9am-5pm; and Sunday, noon-8pm.
Current students, faculty and staff from colleges and universities in the Boston Library Consortium and the New England Law Library Consortium can access the library during the above hours for specific research projects after filling out an affiliated visitor application form and presenting their consortium or university identification cards.
All other researchers who desire the use of unique materials in the library’s collections must request prior permission to access the library for short-term legal research. Please contact Terri Geiger, firstname.lastname@example.org or 617/353-8881 (Monday - Friday, 9AM - 4PM) to request access privileges. If permission is given, upon arrival researchers must complete an application form and present identification at the Fineman circulation desk.
To maintain a quiet environment during examination periods, law library access is limited to Boston University law students and other Boston University researchers who require our legal collections and Boston University alumni during that period.
Users who need assistance to access or retrieve materials from the law library collections should visit or contact the Fineman circulation desk located on the second floor of the Law School at 765 Commonwealth Ave, 617/353-3151.
For additional questions about law library access, please contact the library staff, 617/353-3151, email@example.com.
Food is not allowed in the library. Beverages may be brought in covered containers only. No beverages are allowed in the computer areas or in online training rooms.
